An American man died in the Bahamas after his jet ski crashed into a boat at sea, police said.

On Sunday morning at approximately 11:30 a.m., officers from the Marine Support Service Branch “responded to a collision involving a vessel and a jet ski in waters off Paradise Island,” according to a statement from the Royal Bahamas Police Force on Sunday.

“The male rider of the jet ski was found unresponsive with visible injuries,” police continued. “Medical personnel visited the scene, examined the victim but found no vital signs of life.”

Authorities have not publicly identified the man involved in the crash.

Since August 2024, at least four U.S. citizens have been hospitalized with injuries from jet ski accidents in the Bahamas, including two people who needed emergency evacuations to the United States due to their injuries.

In April 2025, the U.S. Embassy in the Bahamas issued a security alert and began advising U.S. citizens of the risks of renting jet skis in the Bahamas, saying that it should be avoided altogether by U.S. citizens.

U.S. government employees working in the Bahamas are also prohibited from renting and using jet skis on New Providence and Paradise islands.

The investigation into the death of the U.S. citizen on Sunday is currently ongoing, police said.
