NEW DELHI: In a heart-wrenching tragedy on Thursday afternoon, an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The aircraft, operating as flight AI171 and bound for London Gatwick, plummeted into the Meghani locality, sparking a massive fire due to its full fuel load for the long-haul journey. Rescue operations are ongoing, but the full scale of casualties remains unclear.Commanded by Capt Sumeet Sabharwal with First Officer Clive Kundar, the aircraft’s rapid descent and subsequent explosion have triggered a nationwide response.
