Aberdeen Sign Dynamic German Left-Back Emmanuel Gyamfi from Schalke on Four-Year Deal

Aberdeen FC have announced the signing of German youth international Emmanuel Gyamfi from FC Schalke 04 on a four-year contract, marking manager Jimmy Thelin’s third summer signing ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 20-year-old left-back joins the Dons for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance and visa approval.

    Who is Emmanuel Gyamfi?

Gyamfi is regarded as one of the top young prospects to emerge from Schalke’s youth academy. The defender gained valuable senior experience during a loan spell at VVV-Venlo in the Dutch Eerste Divisie during the 2024–25 season, where he showcased his pace, attacking flair, and technical quality.

Now, Gyamfi is looking to make an impact at Pittodrie Stadium as Aberdeen prepare for a new campaign under their new manager.

Gyamfi Inspired by Aberdeen’s Cup Triumph and Fans

Speaking to club media, Gyamfi expressed his excitement about joining the Scottish Premiership side:

“I’m really happy to be here, and so is my family. Now that everything is sorted, I can focus on pre-season.

“I want to give my best, work hard, and show the fans what I can do. Watching the celebrations after the Scottish Cup win was incredible — it motivates me to want to achieve even more for this club.”

He also shared his dream of playing European football with Aberdeen and pledged to contribute to more silverware success in the future.

    Jimmy Thelin: “He’s a Dynamic Full-Back”

Manager Jimmy Thelin highlighted Gyamfi’s arrival as a key move to strengthen the left-back position following the departure of Jack MacKenzie at the end of last season.

“Emmanuel is a player we’ve been monitoring closely,” said Thelin.

“He possesses all the qualities we look for in a modern full-back — he’s dynamic, technically gifted, and has a strong work ethic. His development at Schalke and during his loan spell shows real potential. We believe he can thrive in our environment.”

    • From: FC Schalke 04 (Germany)
