Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par goes past day 1 collection of Fanaa and Rang De Basanti in advance booking
Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is off to a flying start, surpassing the advance booking numbers of his earlier hits like ‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Fanaa’. The film has already grossed ₹4.6 crore in advance bookings across India, with the Hindi version leading the charge. This strong early momentum suggests a potentially huge opening day for the R.S.

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is back with a bang! His upcoming release, Sitaare Zameen Par, has had a powerful start at the box office as its Day 1 advance bookings have already surpassed the opening day numbers of some of his earlier hits like Rang De Basanti, Fanaa, and Dhobi Ghat.As per early data by Sacnilk, the film has grossed Rs 1.55 crore in advance bookings across India, with block seats pushing the total to a whopping Rs 4.6 crore — a significant figure considering the film has yet to screen its first show. The Hindi version alone brought in Rs 1.44 crore from 47,604 tickets sold across 7,456 shows. The Telugu and Tamil versions contributed Rs 8.87 lakh and Rs 1.34 lakh respectively, reflecting the film’s broad pan-India interest and expanding multilingual appeal. In total, over 57,374 tickets have already been sold across formats and languages, indicating solid anticipation among audiences. What’s particularly noteworthy is how this early momentum puts Sitaare Zameen Par ahead of several earlier Aamir Khan starrers in terms of Day 1 collection potential. Rang De Basanti, which released in 2006 and became a cultural phenomenon, had opened to Rs 2.90 crore. Fanaa, a major box office success also from 2006, registered Rs 3.97 crore on its first day. Even the critically acclaimed Dhobi Ghat, known for its niche storytelling, had managed Rs 3.05 crore. With Rs 4.60crore worth of seats already accounted for (including block bookings), Sitaare Zameen Par has comfortably outpaced all three, and that too before the first show has even screened. This kind of buzz is a testament to Aamir Khan’s enduring star power and the curiosity surrounding the film, which is speculated to be a spiritual successor to Taare Zameen Par — the 2007 film that remains one of Aamir’s most impactful directorial ventures.Trade analysts are optimistic about Sitaare Zameen Par crossing double digits on Day 1 itself, especially with positive word of mouth expected to kick in once audiences begin pouring into theatres. If these early signs are anything to go by, Aamir Khan may be on the verge of yet another box office triumph. The film has been directed by R.S Prassana and also features Genelia D’Souza in the lead, it is an official remake of Spanish film Champions which was based on real life events.
