    Aamir Khan opens up about his father Tahir Hussain backhanding him and brother Faissal Khan: 'His ring would leave a mark on our faces'

    Aamir Khan recently opened up about his upbringing and how his father, Tahir Hussain, and mother, Zeenat Hussain, were different when it comes to parenting.Aamir Khan about his father backhanding him and brother FaissalIn a recent conversation with Zee Music, Aamir shared how discipline and empathy were instilled in him from a young age. The actor recalled his father’s strict approach to parenting and shared how he and his brother, Faissal Khan, used to receive punishment from their father. “When he would backhand me and Faissal, his ring would leave a mark on our faces. It would be embarrassing at school the next day because everyone would know we’d gotten disciplined,” he shared.Aamir Khan about his mother Zeenat Hussain’s sweet gesturesBut Aamir described his mother, Zeenat Hussain, as a gentle and emotionally intelligent presence in his life. “All she would say was, Haye Aamir, aap aisa karenge? (How can you do this, Aamir?) That was her maximum daant (scolding), she’s very soft,” he added.Aamir credited his mother for shaping his emotional awareness and social sensibilities. “I think whatever I am today is because of my mother. She has been a very big influence on me; she’s very sensitive. I think she’s very intelligent emotionally. I’ve learnt that from her,” he stated.The ‘PK’ actor revealed that after winning a tennis tournament at age 11, his mother’s concern for the feelings of the losing player and his family made him reflect deeply. That moment left him feeling guilty and helped nurture his sensitivity towards social issues.

    Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par’Aamir is gearing up for the release of ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, directed by RS Prasanna. It is a spiritual successor to his 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. The movie also features Genelia Deshmukh in a key role and it will hit theatres tomorrow (une 20).
