8 one-day trips from Bengaluru that don’t need advance planning

Cities can at times be a bit too much, and Bengaluru is no such exception. Between the traffic, the honking, it’s normal to want a quick escape. But planning? Booking stays? Itineraries? No, not always. Sometimes, all you want is to roll out of bed, toss some snacks in a bag, and drive. And the good news is, here are some one-day trips from Bengaluru that require zero advance planning and 100% spontaneous energy.

    Avalabetta

A rocky hill with panoramic views and far fewer people than Nandi Hills. There’s a cliff edge here that looks straight out of a fantasy movie, not dragons though, just monkeys who will try to steal your chips.Read more: 7 Wonders of the World and where are they located

    Chunchi Falls

This waterfall near Kanakapura is perfect for doing absolutely nothing, except staring at flowing water, questioning your life choices, and maybe eating idlis on a rock. Not safe for swimming, but highly recommended for soul resets.

    Nandi Hills

    Nandi Hills

It might remain crowded, but it is all worth your energy and effort. Also yes. Head out early in the morning, so that by the time the sun rises over the misty hills, you’ll get to see the most breathtaking views. Finding parathas and chai stalls nearby won’t be a hassle.

    Lepakshi

If you’re in the mood for a history snack, head to this small Andhra town. It’s got stunning temple carvings, ancient murals, and the mysterious hanging pillar.

    Big Banyan Tree

It’s a tree. But it spreads across 3 acres and is 400 years old. Walk under its canopy, have a lazy picnic, and marvel at how nature does slow living.Read more: India’s 5 cleanest villages and what to learn from them

    Rasta Café

Don’t want hills or temples? Just drive to Rasta Café on Mysore Road. Giant burgers, pool tables, open lawns and vibes for days. You can even pretend it’s a road trip.

    Skandagiri Night Trek

    Skandagiri

Start the trek early, reach the top by sunrise, and descend before the rest of the city has even started their business. No fancy booking apps, just a torch, water, and semi-decent shoes.

    Nrityagram

An artsy little dance village near Hesaraghatta that’s part cultural escape, part Zen garden. Walk around the mud paths, chat with graceful Odissi dancers, and have the much needed break that you didn’t know you needed.Next time the city gets too loud, just pick one of these and go. Bengaluru will still be there when you get back.
